[1174]M. SESKIND, 85, DIES; VETERAN LABOR LEADERMorris Seskind, 85, a leader in the labor organization, died on Friday at Edgewater Hospital. He helped form the AFL Ladies’ Garment Workers Union, the CIO Amalgamated Clothing Workers, the Jewish Bakers’ Union, and the Millinery Workers Union.
Mr. Seskind, of 4752 N. Harding Ave., retired in 1954 as labor editor of the Jewish Daily Forward. He was the founder of the Jewish Labor World Press. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rose Seskind; two sons, Carl and Bernard Seskind; five daughters, Mrs. Ida Siegel, Mrs. Hattie Steinberg, Mrs. Libby Goldsholl, Mrs. Bertha Rosenberg, and Mrs. Mary Minkus; and two sisters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel at 3019 Peterson Ave.

[1178]SET RITES MONDAY FOR LABOR EDITOR MORRIS SESKIND, 85Services for Morris Seskind, 85, of 4752 N. Harding Ave, who founded the Jewish Labor World in 1908 and became a leader in the organization of labor unions, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel at 2019 Peterson Ave.
Mr. Seskind died Friday in Edgewater Hospital. He retired in 1954 as labor editor of the Jewish Daily Forward, where he had worked for 34 years. Mr. Seskind came to Chicago from Russia and became a cigar maker. He was a delegate to the Chicago Federation of Labor before becoming a writer.
Survivors include his widow, Rose; two sons, Carl and Bernard Seskind; five daughters, Mrs. Ida Siegel, Mrs. Hattie Steinberg, Mrs. Libby Goldsholl, Mrs. Bertha Rosenberg, and Mrs. Mary Minkus; and two sisters.
