Janice Wilson was born on August 28, 1958, in Los Angeles County, California. Her mother’s maiden name was Babbitt. She was born during a period of rapid post-World War II growth in California, as the state experienced significant economic expansion and cultural shifts.
On July 19, 1980, when she was 21, Janice Wilson married Scott C. Rubin in Los Angeles, California. This era in Southern California reflected a changing social landscape, with the region continuing its ascent as a global center of entertainment and innovation. Four years later, on March 31, 1984, Janice and Scott welcomed twin sons, Joshua Louis and Michael Byron, both born in Los Angeles.
The family navigated significant challenges, including Scott’s life as a heart transplant recipient, a condition he lived with for 37 years. Tragedy struck when their son, Joshua Louis, died in Daly City, California, on January 20, 2007, at the age of 22. He was subsequently buried in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Colma.

Scott Rubin Obituary - Colma, CA:
May 9, 1957 - March 6, 2023
Scott Cary Rubin, 65, of Daly City, California, passed away on March 6th, 2023.
Scott was the beloved husband for 42 years of Janice, a loving father to Michael and Joshua, and dearest Papa “Stock” to grandson Flynn. Scott is predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Edythe Rubin, his in-laws, Robert and Ruth Wilson, and his son, Joshua. He is survived by his wife, Janice, and son, Michael (Lisa, Flynn).
Scott possessed a passion for life and learning. A force of nature, Scott beat all medical odds and lived 37 years as a heart transplant recipient. He dedicated much of his time in various volunteer capacities to help others live their best lives. A proud Beverly Hills High School and Pomona College (‘78) alum, he constantly worked to further his understanding of various topics and loved to share his time and knowledge in long chats with friends and family.
Scott loved his family with every fiber of his being. He instilled in his sons the value of appreciating the little moments with your loved ones. Through meals shared, stories told (and retold), pun-y jokes, long hugs, a litany of “you ought tos,” and seemingly endless “I love yous,” Scott expressed the immensity of his love. His family will continue to carry those moments forward in memory with gratitude for the time shared and anticipate the day when they are all reunited with Josh, in Paradise.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
The family will do a Private interment at a later date.
