SERVICES FOR Peter Volid, 70, former president of King Korn stamps, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel at 9200 Skokie Blvd., Skokie.
Mr. Volid died Saturday in MD Anderson Hospital, Houston, where he had been undergoing treatment for leukemia.
Mr. Volid rose from poverty to become president of King Rom in 1953 and, by 1966, had turned it from a business worth $350,000 into a $75 million company.
His most recent business success was the launch of the COPE (Computerized Occupational, Physical, and Emotional) Screening Institute. This program provides an analysis of physical and mental health for companies that offer employee testing.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; two daughters, Benita Volid and Joan Hahn; two sisters, Mary Lou Miller and Ruth Friedland; and three grandchildren.

SKOKIE, Ill. — Services for Peter Volid, who built the King Korn trading stamps company into a multimillion-dollar firm, were held today in Skokie.
Volid, 70, died Saturday in Houston, where he had been undergoing treatment for leukemia.
He became president of King Korn in 1953, when it was worth $350,000, and by 1966 had turned it into a $75 million company.
