Robert J. Cox, “Bob,” age 68 of Hartville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 2, 2025. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 13, 1956, to Robert J. and Dorothy (Carter) O’Neill. He attended Firestone Community Learning Center, graduated from Mogadore High School, and earned a degree in Social Work from The University of Akron. In 1978, Bob began a 33-year career with the Summit County Juvenile Court, where he served as a probation officer until his retirement in 2009.
Bob enjoyed all aspects of being outdoors, golfing, hunting, camping, fishing, and spending time on the water in his boat. Some of his favorite memories were traveling to Florida in their motorhome and camping on the Suwannee River.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol (Coleman) Cox; siblings Patricia O. Cox, Joyce O’Neill, and Larry Cox; several nieces and nephews; many special lifelong friends; and his fur babies, Koda and Rosie.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and no public services are planned at this time.
