MUSCATINE, Iowa — Clifford W. Bower, 85, Muscatine, died Monday, July 4, 2005, at Unity Hospital.
The Rev. Chris Lary will officiate the services. Casket bearers are Scott Bower, Greg Bower, Rob Bower, Doug Bower, Tom Miller, Bill Umlandt, and Denny Anderson. Honorary casket bearers are Bud Fridley, Fred Hurlbut, Leroy Waters, and Gil Lawrence. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Bower was born Feb. 5, 1920, in Muscatine, the son of Leonard and Ida Belle Yeater Bower. He married Marian L. Mittman on Oct. 20, 1948, in Muscatine.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served four years in the Pacific Theater.
He was a 50-year member of First Baptist Church.
He worked for Stanley Consultants for 40 years, retiring in 1987.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bradley D. Bower of Ormond Beach, Fla., and David L. Bower and wife Sofia of Magna, Utah; a daughter, Karen Miller and husband Tom of Muscatine; seven grandchildren; and a brother, D. Bernell Bower and wife Minnie Ellen of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Janice Diane, and a daughter-in-law, Gale Bower.

2914MARIAN MITTMAN BECOMES BRIDE OF CLIFFORD W. BOWERMuscatine, Ia. — Miss Marian Louise Mittman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J Mittman, 611 Monroe Street, and Clifford Wesley Bower, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard U. Bower, 116 Cook Street, were married Wednesday evening in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. R. R. Shirk read the double ring service.
Attending the couple were Mrs. Wayne Reger, the bride’s cousin, and Bernell Bower, the bridegroom’s brother. Ushers were Bernard Campbell, Leroy Metcalfe, Frank Drucker, and Alvin Young.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a grey gabardine suit with green accessories. Her corsage was of yellow carnations and pompons. A reception for 150 guests was held in the church parlor.
Mrs. Bower graduated from Muscatine High School and is employed at the Muscatine Bank & Trust Company. Mr. Bower graduated from Muscatine High School, attended Muscatine Junior College, and Iowa State College, and is employed by the Stanley Engineering company.
After a wedding trip, the couple will be at home at 317 Cherry Street.
