Robert Allen Nearman, 93, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Nov. 15, at Riverview Lutheran Care Center in Spokane, Wash. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Mae and Philip Nearman; his wife of 44 years, Ferne Rosenbluth Nearman; his sister, Esther Nearman Forsley; and his brother, Sydney Nearman.

Bob graduated from Charleston High and WVU. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater, stationed at the Naval Air Base in Leyte, Philippines. He had a long career as a self-employed accountant.

Bob was a lifelong member of B’nai Jacob Synagogue and an avid participant in Rabbi Urecki’s Talmud classes. He was also president of B'nai Brith and held various other offices in the synagogue.

Bob is survived by sons, Jeffry Finer and wife, Stacie, of Spokane and Scott Finer and wife, Cynthia, of Seattle; brother and sister-in-law, Sherman and Rita Nearman; cousin, Sidney Lopinsky; niece, Polly Webb and husband, Josh, of Baltimore; nephews, Henry Nearman and wife, Tammy, of Charleston, Merrill Nearman and wife, Sandra, of Park City, Utah, Richard Nearman and wife, Cindy, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Howard Nearman and wife, Barbara, of Cleveland; grandchildren, Cassie and Zach; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.

Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in B’nai Jacob Cemetery.

Ferne Nearman, 81, of Charleston, passed away at Hubbard Hospice House on October 13, 2008. Ferne Rosenbluth was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 11, 1927, the daughter of Ruth and Ralph Rosenbluth. She graduated from McAlester High School and attended the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau.

Ferne was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Gloria Klein, and brother-in-law, Harold, all of Palm Springs, Calif.

Ferne was a Worthy Advisor of Rainbow Girls in McAlester, Mother Assembly 1, and was a Demolay Sweetheart. She was president of the Lubbock, Texas, chapter of Hadassah in 1951. In 1964, Ferne was married to Robert Nearman in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ferne was a member of B'nai Jacob Synagogue and its Ladies Auxiliary and an avid member of Rabbi Urecki's classes on Talmud.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert, of 44 years, youngest son, Jeffry Finer and his wife, Dr. Stacie Bering, both of Spokane, Wash.; grandchildren, Cassie of Boulder, Colo., and Zachary of Herzliya, Israel, and eldest son Scott Finer and his fiance, Cynthia Gottman of Seattle, Wash.; as well as her brother, Alan Rosenbluth and wife, Gwen, of Morgantown and her sister, Myrle Vorzimer of Palm Springs, Calif.; plus many nieces and nephews.

Ferne was a thoughtful and caring person always sharing her love, enthusiasm and humor. Over the course of her illness many kindnesses were extended to her and Bob Nearman and we gratefully wish to thank the following Pam and Melanie Stebbins, Ellen and Don Wang, Chris and Ron Lawrence, Teri and Bernie Greisman, Sara and Justin Cohen, Rabbi Victor Urecki, Nemo and Rita, Andrea and Manny Fernandez, Pat Stanton and the "Y" Senior Aerobics class, the wonderful people at Hubbard Hospice House and Meadowbrook Acres, CAMC Memorial Hospital, Harlan and Barbara Miller, Suzanne Smith, Betty Miller, Mary Anne Landfield, WVU M&S Office, Hyim Goldstein, Sister Mary Pelicane, Alan and Gwen Rosenbluth, Eve Fingerett, Terry and George Pickett, Eloisa Tarzanin, Thorney and Anne Lieberman, Zorus Colglazier, and of course, Scott and Cynthia and Jeffry and Stacie.

Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at B'nai Jacob Eternal Home, South Charleston, Rabbi Victor Urecki officiating. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Hubbard Hospice, B'nai Jacob Synagogue or the Charleston YMCA.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston.
