Marshall Grossman, M.D. Scholarship:
Marshall K. Grossman, a doctor and an avid golfer of Orange County, California, passed away on December 20, 2021, after complications from a heart attack. He will continue loving care of family, friends, and patients in a different realm as a Guardian Angel.
Marshall was born in 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, but spent most of his childhood in Skokie, Illinois. After graduating from Niles East High School, he enrolled in Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, graduating in the Class of 1979. He then earned his master’s degree from the University of Michigan. He attended Saint Louis University School of Medicine, graduating cum laude in 1975.
After moving to Orange County, California, he completed his postgraduate training at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center, including a postdoctoral fellowship in endocrinology. As a private practice physician in Orange County for over 40 years, he specialized in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Internal Medicine. He was a former Chief of Staff and Chief of Medicine of Irvine Medical Center Hospital.
Marshall was passionate about his calling as a Doctor. His caring and loving demeanor was evident to all who knew him.
For decades, Dr. Marshall Grossman was significantly involved with Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He proudly served as a Board Member of the 240,00 member Northwestern Alumni Association and was instrumental in creating the First NAA Conference outside the Chicago area, held in Newport Beach.
Marshall Grossman was Northwestern University’s Regent for Southern California. Last Fall, Marshall served as Co-Chair for his 50th Northwestern Reunion.
A past President of Northwestern’s 240,000 Alumni Association and a former Northwestern Trustee stated, “No one was more dedicated or positively involved than Marshall Grossman.”
Marshal was an avid sports fan of the Angels, Lakers, and his beloved Northwestern Wildcats. He loved golf (playing and watching the PGA on television), fine art, and great literature.
Marshall was a long-time board member of High Hopes, a charitable organization based in Tustin, California, that assists and rehabilitates brain-injured individuals.
He is survived by his wife, Lori, his son Nicholas, his daughter Sondra, his stepdaughter Jenna, and his sister, Dr. Lisa Grossman.
Even though his heart gave out on him too early for us, it was well used for loving and caring for family, friends, and patients. He will be greatly missed.
In honor of Marshall’s memory and love of helping people, High Hopes has set up a scholarship in his name. Below, you can sponsor a student or support the Marshall K. Grossman, M.D. Scholarship.
