[3930]Paul MittmanPaul Ernest Mittman, 85, of Moline, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at his home. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the church.
He was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Blanche Merkelbach Mittman. He married the former Gladys Bessie Wise on June 24, 1942, in Moline. She preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 2000.
Mr. Mittman was employed at Modern Woodmen of America for over 42 years, retiring in 1983 as the manager of mailing and shipping. He was a longtime and very active member at Moline Gospel Temple, where he was a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and past board member. He also loved to read.
He is survived by four sisters-in-law, Etta Mittman, Moline, Ann Mittman, St. Petersburg, Fla., Jeannette Fitzpatrick, Cable, II, and Barbara and Paul Cady, California; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He had two brothers, George and Jack Mittman, who preceded him in death.

[3941]Bessie MittmanBessie Mittman, 85, Moline, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, shortly after arrival at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the main sanctuary at Moline Gospel Temple, where she was a member, with The Rev. Jerry Helms officiating. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be given to the church.
The former Bessie Wise was born Sept. 16, 1915, in Rock Island, the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Goene) Wise. She married Paul Mittman on June 27, 1942, in Moline.
Bessie was the personal secretary to The Rev. Dr. Charles Hollis at Moline Gospel Temple for more than 50 years. She was also a deaconess, served as the secretary of the Christ Ambassadors Society, and attended and taught Sunday School.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Mittman, of Moline; sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara and Paul Cady of La Crescenta, Calif., and Jeanette Fitzpatrick of Coos Bay, Ore.
