[4024]Carl Mittman Dies: Ex-Grocery OwnerCarl L. Mittman, 74, a former grocery store owner, bakery truck delivery driver, and security guard, died Saturday in Community Hospital.
A lifelong Indianapolis resident and U.S. Navy veteran, he worked for Brightwood Baking Co., Inc. for 20 years. He owned grocery stores on Oliver Avenue, West Washington Street, and East Ninth Street for over 15 years.
He was also a security guard at Summit House Apartments, retiring in 1979.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in GH Herrmann South East Street Funeral Home, where friends may call after 5 p.m. today.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Mittman and Dick Mittman, a sportswriter for The Indianapolis News, and a daughter. Mrs. LuAnne Wulf, and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Stewart and Mrs. Marie Downs.
