[144]Norma Elaine Reinhardt Sencer, 83, of Chicago, formerly of Van Horne, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chicago, following an extended illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Keystone, by the Rev. David Lindenberg. Burial: St. John Cemetery, Newhall. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Friday.
Norma was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Van Horne, to A.O. and Lillian (Kramer) Reinhardt, and was the granddaughter of F.A. Reinhardt, founder of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne. She graduated from Van Horne High School and then attended and graduated from a Chicago-area Nursing School. As an R.N., she cared for people in the Chicagoland area for over 50 years.
In June of 1950, she married Dr. Walter Sencer in Chicago. The couple later divorced.
Survivors include a son, Philip Sencer of Chicago; a brother, Wayne Reinhardt and wife Nadine of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Wanda Edwards and husband Dick of Marengo; her nieces, Susan Reinhardt of Winter Haven, Fla., and Lisa Reinhardt Zoeller of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and her nephews, Eric and Kurt Reinhardt, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
In addition to her parents and her ex-husband, an infant daughter preceded her in death.

[150]Sue SencerSue Sencer passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the Hospice House in Charlottesville. She was 85.
Born Suzanne Jean Handmaker in Chicago, Sue moved to New York City in 1952, where she studied at the Art Students League and pursued a career as a fashion illustrator. She married in 1956 and devoted herself to raising two children and her art.
Following her divorce in the late 1970s, Sue became a devotee of Swami Muktananda and continued to pursue her passion for painting. Sue moved to Charlottesville in 2004 and became a member of Bozart and Art Upstairs Galleries. She leaves a large body of exceptional work spanning many styles and media.
She is survived by her son, Nick of Portland, Oregon; daughter, Claudia, and her husband, Mark Farrington, of Charlottesville; and grandchildren, Aaron, Jessika, Cara, Seth, Megan, Isaac, Santana, and Lena.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Virginia Hillel Brody Jewish Center, New Sanctuary, at 1824 University Circle.
