Narrative
Oscar Pavlove — as he was known later in his life [807] — was born on March 15, 1889, in Lodz, Poland, the son of Zalek and an unknown mother. He eventually went to England, although no records of that voyage exist. Oscar married Salina Plicht in 1911 in London, England. They had four children during their marriage, all born in England. Oscar died on February 28, 1973, in Miami Beach, Florida, at 83.
In England, his Anglicized name became Asher Pawlowitz, used on his marriage registry [812], and then later, Usher Pavlovitch. Usher, Salina, and all four children emigrated to the United States in 1923. [361]
Oscar was a tailor, making women’s coats in a loft factory in the Chicago Merchandise Mart for the Rothmoor Corp.
[811], [18]
Usher’s name was changed by court order from Usher Pavlovitch to Usher Pavlove on 20 Mar 1929, the date of Naturalization in the United States.
[393] Eventually, he would adopt the name Oscar, and Oscar Pavlove is how he was known by his death in 1973.
[807]
Oscar was my great-grandfather through my mother’s adoptive father’s side.
