Faye Esterson was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 8, 1915, the daughter of Sol and Anna Rae Weintraub Esterson. Her early life in Chicago saw her working as a sorter in ladies' clothing, an occupation that provided a glimpse into the working lives of many women during the era. Before 1935, she married Sol David Rietman, and together they welcomed a daughter, Ilene Lois, in 1935. Their marriage concluded around 1936.
In 1941, Faye embarked on a new chapter, marrying John Jack Pavlove in Cook County, Illinois, as the nation prepared for global conflict. John, originally from London, England, brought a unique background, having been a talented violinist who performed for the Lord Mayor of London as a young boy. During their time in Chicago, John worked as a clerk in the Post Office and later as a sales manager for a record distributor, providing a stable foundation for their growing family. Faye embraced the role of homemaker, and in 1944, she and John celebrated the birth of their daughter, Diane Sidney.
Later in life, Faye and John relocated to Los Angeles, California, where they ventured into entrepreneurship as co-owners of House of Faith, Inc., and United Book Services, Inc., book wholesaling companies. After a decade in the book business, they retired in 1981, marking a significant transition in their lives. The couple then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Faye dedicated her time to volunteering at the Baptist Medical Center. Her personal passions shone through her diverse interests; she was an artist, a keen admirer of the arts and ballet, and known as a gourmet cook. She also spent a period living in Mesa, Arizona, from 1988 before returning to Kansas City in early 1999.
Faye Pavlove passed away in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 21, 1999, at the age of 83, having lived through significant historical changes from the Roaring Twenties to the turn of the millennium. She was laid to rest at Mount Moriah Cemetery. She was survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, John J. Pavlove, her two daughters, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandson, leaving behind a legacy of family and a life well-lived.
