[1158]Bernice Hinrichsen, 85Bernice Hinrichsen, 85, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at Unity Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Faith United Church of Christ, 3307 Mulberry Ave. The Rev. Jim Trosen will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Faith United Church of Christ, Unity Hospital Auxiliary, or the Muscatine Art Center.
Mrs. Hinrichsen was born March 6, 1916, in Muscatine, the daughter of Walter and Clara (Kothe) Mittman. She married Thomas P. Hinrichsen on Oct. 16, 1943, in Muscatine.
She was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ, Business and Professional Women of Muscatine, the former Muscatine General Hospital Auxiliary, and TOPS.
She worked in medical records at the former Muscatine General Hospital and then as a receptionist for Dr. William Chen.
She volunteered at the Muscatine Art Center and the Food Pantry.
Survivors include one son, Thomas P. Hinrichsen III and his wife, Yvonne, of Spencer; three daughters, Joyce Myer and her husband, Mike, of Iowa City, Carol Lawson and her husband, David, of LeClaire, and Kathy Rebal and her husband, Al, of Iowa City; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Arthur Mittman and his wife, Moni, of Hillsboro, Ore., and Wayne Mittman and his wife, Gladys, of Muscatine; and one sister, Sharon Klein and her husband, Carl, of Spirit Lake.
Her husband died in 1956, and one sister, Catherine Krueger, died earlier.
