Schilder Cousin Club

The Schilder Cousin Club began on January 21, 1940, to bring together the Chicago descendants of the three Schilder sisters, Anna, Bertha, and Goldie. Before its last meeting on January 24, 1960, the club would involve some 50 members, see 30 births, and the start and end of World War II. These minutes testify to our ancestors’ integration into mainstream American society, survival in post-war Europe, and immigration to Israel.

I have only transcribed the minutes through December 11, 1949; ten more years are left to transcribe! This draft shares work in progress and helps me further develop the various distribution processes I will use for the finished document.

There are three files available for viewing or download:

Transcribed Minutes Book with Additional Material is available as a Portable Document Format (PDF) file. It contains a substantial amount of additional material that provides depth and background to the transcribed meeting minutes.

Scanned Minutes of the Schilder Cousin Club contains scanned pages of the book and is available either as a Portable Document Format (PDF) or as an eBook (EPUB) file. Many e-readers support EPUB, and compatible software is available for most smartphones, tablets, and computers.
