Muscatine Journal - Fri., Feb. 16, 1968

Fred C. Mittman, 85, died at 2:30 a.m. today at Muscatine General Hospital following an illness of two months.

He was born Jan. 30, 1883, the son of John and Amelia Schmalz Mittman at Muscatine, and lived here all his life.

Mr. Mittman married Emma Gorman on Nov. 8, 1904, at Muscatine. He was a member of the First Baptist church.

He operated the Mittman dairy most of his life, retiring a few years ago.

Survivors include two sons, Earl R. Mittman and Delmar Mittman, both of Muscatine; one daughter, Mrs. William (June) Higgins of Keswick; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Mason of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Gertrude Wicke of Davenport; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother, and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Ralph J. Wittich funeral home with the Rev. Frank Gillelt in charge. The interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
